Assessment of operator smartphone strategies for mobile infrastructure vendor

A major mobile infrastructure vendor was investigating operator business and technology strategies in the emerging smartphone era. The vendor was looking to differentiate with services and products and asked Northstream to understand emerging needs in the area. Northstream performed interviews with key stakeholders from CTO, strategy and sales offices at a number of major operators. In addition, Northstream performed end user market analysis to understand the drivers and use cases of smartphones. The project explored and concluded a number of key issues from a network, IT, organization and sales point of view. Northstream concluded a number of key needs and potential areas to differentiate as well as provided value-based argumentation using a simplified business case model. The results were used as input to service definitions, technology positioning and development as well as discussion material for operator meetings.
